Little Fountain Cafe report

Thanks to your recommendations we went to Little Fountain Cafe for dinner Sat. night and had a very nice meal. The place is tiny and cute in a basic sort of way. My boyfriend was skeptical after looking at the menu online because it was a short one, but I assured him that there would be more to choose from from the daily specials. I was proved wrong - only one appetizer and one main course special were offered. Fortunately, he found several things to choose from and I wanted to try almost everything on the menu.

Dinner was quite good. The crab cake starter was delicious, probably more because of the sauce (crawfish/lemon/thyme buerre blanc) than the crab cake -- a great sauce. The duck rillettes were ok, though not very flavorful -- I ended up spreading the rather garlicky butter they serve with the bread basket on the toast before topping with the rillette to get some more flavor into it. The osso bucco was very good though the accompanying fresh spinach pasta was overcooked to a mealy clump. My steak au poivre was absolutely fabulous, though - extrememly flavorful meat, cooked perfectly and I wanted to beg for more sauce (but refrained). We found a nice Cotes du Rhone for $24 their wine list. No room for dessert. The tab was about $92 before tip, so it almost made it into the under $100 window.

Thanks again for the tip!
