Some experiences with food just stand out. There really doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason. And the best "food memories" are not necessarily found at the most expensive or trendy places.
For me what etches a "food experience" in my mind is one that catches me off-guard. The unexpected flavor combination that really wows or surprises me.
My most recent is from, of all places, the R&D Cafe in Newport. The prime rib sandwich was like butter...it melted in my mouth. The sweet yet tangy coleslaw and the thin and crisp fries I had with it contrasted it beautifully.
What is your most recent "food memory"?
