I'd been dubious about Fonda(tiny amounts of not too interesting food w/ big price tags), but it was nearly midnight, we were just returning from a folk music concert in Walnut Creek, Cesar's was no longer serving food. So we went. It was very good. The seafood cocktail and a sea bass special were both wonderfully seasoned, the cocktail refreshing, the special bass and shellfish in a deeply flavored, nuanced stock. Skirt steak salad w/ avocado, nopales, and something else was excellent, the flavors strong and bright. Duck taco w/ pomegranate a lovely combination, the speckles of fruit a delicate, sharp complement to the well-prepared duck. Chicken tamale didn't move me--a little muddy--but my husband like it. And the mango and lime was a perfect end, sweet and sour and lively. The price tag was too high, imo. But the food was, if not worth it, then very good, indeed.
