I can't seem to make it over there. I want to keep my New Year's resolution to eat at one top restaurant a month, and February draws to a close.
My only option is Sunday or Monday. IMO, all restaurants are not at their best on Monday, and unless it's brunch, I'm not inclined to eat out on a Sunday for the same reason.
Fifth Floor is closed Sunday, so that only leaves Monday. Gary Danko is open Sunday. Do you think the food is as good as on other nights? Is GD out sailing on the bay and leaving the kitchen in the hands of his second in command?
BTW, not eating out on Saturday has nothing to do with reservations. I ate a Scoma's tonight, the first Fisherman's Wharf restaurant where I didn't feel ripped off. The food was well prepared, the seafood was super fresh and some of the best I've had in SF, the prices fair ... but the portions were HUGE. I seriously don't think I can eat anything, let alone a major meal tommorrow. I am in such a food stupor right now it is all I can do to post this. I am crawling (literally) off to bed soon.
Any advice about eating out on a Sunday or Monday? Doesn't particularily have to be either of those, but it must be one of the top dogs in the city.
