Say ... after spending my paycheck at Octavia Books yesterday I noticed the Flaming Torch for the first time right there on the corner of Magazine. Anyone have any opinions about it? The menu looks focused enough and I like all that Frenchy bistro food. Just curious.
Likewise, I've never been to the Feelings Cafe although I could almost throw a rock and hit it from my roof. It seems they're never open when I say "hey, I should try that place." Wondering if it's worth the effort to pencil it in some weekend. (In general I tend to not eat out on the weekend ... it's a carry over from living in Boston where the bridge & tunnel crowd makes going out on the weekend ... not as much fun as it should be.)
Anyhow, thanks for any opinions!
(On a CH related note: Octavia has a respectable cocktail books selection. They seem to be stocking most of the Mud Puddle books, among others. Sadly my budget didn't extend to the Modernist Cuisine set, but boy was it tempting. They also had a sizable showing of N.O. cuisine/restaurant history books ... that's not exactly my thing -- reading about restaurants I can't go to and bars I can't drink at is soul crushing -- but I bet they'd make fine gifts.)
