Two new Fish Taco finds...

Jeff Pillet-Shore | Jul 29, 2002 06:06 PM

Not a bad food weekend -- chinese broccoli in China town, fish tacos at Senor Fish, followed the next day by one taco each at two spectacular restaurants in San Pedro. Briefly...

Taco Co
441 S Gaffey St, San Pedro, CA 90731
Phone: (310) 514-2808

- Looks a bit ratty from the outside, but inside it's charming and the people are very friendly. Unusual salsa -- very tomato sauce-y, which we enjoyed. Had the grilled halibut taco. Delicious fish -- tender, not slightest bit fishy. Excellent crema and cabbage.

Baja Fish [NOT a Baja Fresh]
611 S Gaffey St, San Pedro, CA 90731
Phone: (310) 521-1931

- Fried cod. Corn tortillas had been grilled, which we weren't a big fan of, and the crema sauce was more like a tartar sauce. But...the fish was freshly fried to a bubbly, crispy, almost tempura like perfection

Both of these restaurants have much more on their menus to offer. Fitting with the proximity to freshly caught fish at the harbor, Baja Fish even sells raw fish directly for good prices.

(Yet another reason never to eat anywhere but San Pedro...)
