I had meals at these seafood restaurants on consecutive nights.
FISH is in an out of the way area of Port Chester, but it's on the water and has nice views from indoor or outdoor tables. Didn't need or make reservations for a weeknight dinner. Colorful dining room, cute t-shirts ("Eat fish, love longer"). Flabby tasteless bread served with garlic-studded olive oil. Small crab cakes which neither looked nor tasted very good. Beet and goat cheese salad, however, made up for them. Dinner companions - who'd eaten here before and really liked it - said they enjoyed their Caesar salads, Hawaiian tuna, and bass. Strawberry milk shake and lemon-poppyseed cake sounded like a refreshing dessert option. They were just as described and fine, not too sweet. Service seemed OK, although dessert took forever to come.
Ocean House is right off 9 in Croton. Small, cute dining room. No reservations. Got a table, but those who came later had to wait. BYOW. Decent bread served with butter. Crab cake also decent, if not memorable. Special of cajun salmon had little cajun flavor. Skate was OK and catfish was light. As at FISH, dessert was the best part of the meal. Here, we tried the pecan pie and apple empanadas (in puff pastry). I wouldn't mind going back just for these. Service was fine, although dinner companion complained that server gave poor directions to the wine store.
