My 11-year-old daughter has decided that she loves fish and chips, based on one out-of-town experience. I'd appreciate recommendations for a good place in Manhattan.
I'm not overly picky and not looking for a gourmet experience -- but I would rather avoid the local tavern where of course they have F&C on the menu, but what you get is something bought in Costco, taken from the freezer and tossed into long-over-used oil.
I had the F&C at Le Caprice at the Pierre not long ago, and it really was exceptional -- good fish, lightly battered, cleanly fried. Had the F&C at Landmark Tavern more recently, a really excellent block of fish but too heavily battered. Crunchy, and you could taste the oil.
Any thoughts? We're pretty flexible all around, but I'd like it to be a good experience for her.
