Fire House Grill and Brew Pub Sunnyvale

The pub, on Murphy Street in downtown Sunnyvale, has been open for 7 weeks according to the bar tender. Food is typical pub fare and they make their own beer.

I went with a friend for beers, football and some appetizers today. I called ahead to see if they were open and if they had games on. They said yes and to come on in. They forgot to mention the construction work and the inability to talk to one another.

Beers were decent but not memorable. I tried the holiday beer and the porter. Both were fresh but average.

The food was below average. One dish came out cold and had to be returned. The chili was ok the nachos below average.

The wine list was bizarre. Wines from $5-7 by the glass. Bottles from about $30-50 then $180+. Nothing in the middle. I am not sure who is ordering Opus One with chili but you can.

I am always on the lookout for a new neighborhood hangout and am willing to let them work the kinks out. However, they have significant room for improvement.

They do have a web site, but it still says they are coming soon. I guess they need help with marketing too.
