Just relocated from Chicago. My definition of the gold standard pie (ANY flavor) is Hoosier Mama's in Chicago. They are dedicated to the traditional art of pie making- pure ingredients, hearty, full crusts, flavorful fillings, and interesting deepened flavors. Sadly, they won't ship (but I actually admire that dedication to preservation of quality, freshness, etc).
Can't find any options here that are remotely close to being a contender and know that Chowhounds won't let me down. Hope suggestions will stay within the city and Peninsula. Thank you!
