I know this restuarant has been much reviewed so I'm not offering much new...but I thought I'd put my $.02 in.
I went with three friends and man did we eat. We started with the Chicken livers bruschette. Delicious. Very fresh tasting with a strong flavor of lemon zest. And if you top anything with pork fat, I'm going to like it.
We then tried three pizzas. By far our favorite was their version of a meat lovers pizza...bacon, salami, sausage. It was old school but was outstanding. We also ordered the goat cheese, leek, spring onion and Bacon pizza. Also very good, though paled compared to the meat lovers. The last pizza was the only miss of the evening. The rapini, tomatoes, anchovies and olives just didn't work for anyone at the table. Too bitter was the general consensus, though the tomatoes were very good.
The star of the evening was their special porterhouse with fried potatoes, herbs and ceci. It was wonderful. The meat was cooked to a perfect rare. The seasoning was garlic and rosemary and the potatoes were incredible. Even the Dubliner in the grouped pronounced they were the best potatoes ever.
We finished with the butterscotch budino. One order, four spoons. Every bit as good as the reviews have claimed. I loved the salt on top...really put it as one of the best desserts I've ever had. We waddled to our car with to go boxes and big smiles.
