Went to Figs Friday night for the first time in about 6 months, it is walking distance from our house, but we dont go often (which should tell you something). We always thought the food was good, but that it was a bit pricey, portions were small and that there were better options.
Menu is completely revamped, and prices are all a few bucks lower (across the board). Apps were 6-8, entrees 15-20, desserts all 5. We split a salmon/cod cake for an app ($6.90). A generous portion (about 4 inches wide by and inch and a ½ high), definitely homemade, and served with a spicy remoulade sauce, very good.
For dinner my husband had the duck (I think it was 17), I only had a tiny bite, but he raved. It was a very ample portion of sliced duck served in a slightly sweet sauce with a homemade spring roll. I wasnt starving so I ordered the calamari app for my entrée (8.10). Excellent! Calamari was extremely tender mixed with sautéed onion in a spicy sauce and topped with a square of polenta, portion was quite big for an appetizer. We split the pumpkin cheesecake for dessert (yummy). And before tip the total bill was 38 bucks. I doubt it will be 6 mos before our next visit. 2501 Meredith Street.
