Having been born and raised in Boston, the REAL DEAL chinese food, as any Bostonian knows (and craves), is fading into oblivion. Bright RED BBQ spareribs and porkstrips, deep brown chunky lobster sauce, egg rolls made with spinach and not cabbage. Thick orange Duck Sauce.
This kind of Chinese was found only in the Boston Area and was perfected at places like the now-closed CHINA SAILS in Swampscott, Malden, and Chestnut Hill, HO SAI GAI at Putterham Circle in South Brookline, and the almost defunct SOUTH PACIFIC in Newton.
Question? Where can I find GREAT Old Time Boston Chinese?? If you grew up in Boston, you know what I mean. If you are a transplant, you probably don't know (and should check it out) or think its basically disgusting. Please help.
