I said earlier on the board that I'd post alerts when a winters farmers market is coming up. I just received this email, included below. There's not a whole lot this time except eggs (wonderful, I can vouch for that) and meat. Wish there were lettuces, root vegetables, etc., but hopefully next time.
Note: you need to email the folks at Henry's Farm (my favorite, with Nichols running a close second--sorry VI!!!) what you'd like, so they know what to bring up. Please do NOT email me, as I have nothing to do with the farm except being a big fan. You can email Terra at
Thanks, and happy eating,

Hello again and Happy New Year to you all:
To start your new year off on the right foot, you need the right food. And we have it. This Wed., Jan 9th, we'll be bringing farm-fresh organic eggs, beef, and
golden flaxseed up to Evanston -- before going out to O'Hare to retrieve Henry, Hiroko, and the family on Thursday morning.
Available items are listed below. Please email me by Tuesday morning with your order.
You can then pick it up from me Wed. evening from 5:00 to 6:30 in The Evanston Library parking lot (Church and Chicago, east of the library, I'll try to park
in the NE corner, near Chicago Ave. -- in Henry's gray/brown family van). If this time and place doesn't work for you, suggest an alternate arrangement and
I'll see what I can do.
Here's what I can bring:
Organic Eggs (LOTS! so feel free to stock up) $3.00/ doz.
Certified Organic golden flaxseed -- $2.00/pkg
Certified Organic Meat:
Ground Beef - $4/lb. (packages are 1 to 1 1/2 lbs)
Ground Pork - $3.50/lb.
Sirloin Steaks $9.00/lb
Roasts (Arm or Chuck) $6.50/lb (roasts are 3 to 4 lbs)
Round Steak $6.50/lb - 2 lb. packages
Stew Meat $5.50 lb (1 lb. packages)
Short Ribs $5/lb (1 to 2 lb pkgs)
Soup Bones (with a lot of meat on them) 3.50/lb
Beef Jerky $2.50/pkg (approx 1 oz = 4 sticks) (made by Marilyn Wettstein with her organic beef -- I'm not much of a jerky fan, but she gave me some and it's great -- just meat and organic spices - none of that preservative and artificial flavoring crap.)
Best wishes for a happy, healthy new year,
p.s. Please feel free to pass this message on to anyone you know who is hungry for locally, humanely, and healthily-raised meat and eggs.
