If only I could get to Philly and try a legitimate Cheese Steak I could tell you exactly how this place's version really compares. Sadly, never had one like I've never had NC "Q" but I'm working on getting to both.
But, this was my kind of place...A true roadfood joint and doing very good business I might add. Kudos to them. They say their roll is made especially for them and its a true version of a Philly cheesesteak roll. I have to think...not. It's too soft from what I've seen and imagined while watching specials on FoodTV done at Pat's and Gino's. Their rolls look crispy to me. In any cse, it was nothing special.
This place also contends they get their steak from Philly too. Well, here again, I'm not so sure. What I had was a lot of lean chopped beef that was chopped so much it started to clump together in balls...like little meat balls. But, it had no gristle or fat and tasted pretty good.
But, I'd have much preferred a sliced texture topped with onions rather than have the whole thing chopped together. I asked for it with Cheese Wiz only because that's how Pat of Pat's told us FoodTV viewers it should be eaten.
Hey, I'd go back again...But, surely not in the next few weeks (Bikers)...Whatever it was I had, it wasn't bad.
