"Famous" Brick Oven Pizza in Astoria

Has anyone tried the "Famous" Brick Oven Pizza on 23rd ave??

We did..

And it was the pits. Although the long and narrow joint is run by the most jovial Sicilian man I have ever met the food was really below par. We ordered the mini "Famous" pizza. The crust tasted just like a freshly baked FROZEN Pizza. and sauce was unusually sweet. We also order the Antipasto Italia salad. For $9 we got 2 slices prosciutto, 2 medium balls of fresh mozzarella, and some canned peppers all atop one piece of uncut romaine lettuce which acted as a means by which the other ingredients may float above the ocean of olive oil in our plate. It was terrible. Not to mention the service was awful.

BTW I think the name is Michelangelo’s Famous Brick Oven Pizza. I know Michelangelo is famous, but certainly not for his pizza! Someone should make him take down his neon "Famous Brick Oven Pizza" sign.
