Has anyone tried the "Famous" Brick Oven Pizza on 23rd ave??
And it was the pits. Although the long and narrow joint is run by the most jovial Sicilian man I have ever met the food was really below par. We ordered the mini "Famous" pizza. The crust tasted just like a freshly baked FROZEN Pizza. and sauce was unusually sweet. We also order the Antipasto Italia salad. For $9 we got 2 slices prosciutto, 2 medium balls of fresh mozzarella, and some canned peppers all atop one piece of uncut romaine lettuce which acted as a means by which the other ingredients may float above the ocean of olive oil in our plate. It was terrible. Not to mention the service was awful.
BTW I think the name is Michelangelos Famous Brick Oven Pizza. I know Michelangelo is famous, but certainly not for his pizza! Someone should make him take down his neon "Famous Brick Oven Pizza" sign.
