I had my birthday dinner at Watergate a few days ago (Valencia between 22nd & 23rd). The food was great, but what really impressed me was the service.
Because of a communication problem, the restaurant thought the reservation was for 16 people and I thought it was for 12. Two of my expected guests never arrived, which not only reduced our number to 10 but also delayed our ordering as we waited for them.
Halfway through the meal, one of my guests felt ill (not related in any way to the food) and had to leave.
The restaurant handled all of this very very well, making me believe that it was no problem for them to accomodate our changing circumstances, even though they must have been disappointed - at the least - that their income from this meal wasn't going to be nearly as large as they had expected.
I left a very large tip, but of course they had no way of knowing that when they were being so gracious.
You can get good food many places in this town, but in my experience service like this is hard to find.
