Had our first dinner at Esperides tonight, 30th Ave. and 37th St., which has gotten mixed reviews on these boards; we were both very happy with our meal (and Sylvia too). We were on our way to Zenon, our regular Greek place, but found the light at Esperides appealing enough to change our plans.
Started with a nice salad -- all ingredients fresh, feta cheese tasted good. I had the special, a (homemade) pasta and chopped lamb dish that was somewhere between lasagna and shepherd's pie. I liked it; but my plan next time we go there is to order what Ellen had, which was a lamb stew with orzo, just mind-blowing. That orzo was one of the tastiest things I can recall eating recently; and the lamb tender and succulent.
Other things -- I drank a glass of red wine that I enjoyed; the service was phenomenally attentive without being in your face about it. A very pleasant evening, I can't wait to go back.
