Seems a strange thing to ask for this time of year, but I'm looking for ideas of food to warm us up in New York state this coming winter.
We're planning a break from the city during our trip to New York early next March. From this website http://mommypoppins.com/ny-kids/maple... it looks as though there are numerous Maple Sugaring possibilities within 1.5 or 2 hours from NYC by public transit, and the dates in 2011 suggest that they may be going on while we're there in 2012.
I expect some of these are better than others, and would appreciate comments on the various options.
Additionally, we will need to eat a meal or two on our excursion. I'm thinking it will be cold and we'll want something to warm us up, but not so filling as to make the train ride a pain. Given the constraints of travel mode and time, I won't be too picky as to what type of food exactly, but would prefer a yummy local spot.
