Ffnally made our way to Craigie Street last nite for the Sunday night 4 course Chef's Choice menu.
We liked the place, ambiance and the food and definitely will be back. the only drawback is that the dinner took 2 hours. we arrived at 9.30 and didnt pay until 11.30. i was yawning by the time i left.
first dish was some sort of soup/broth with fresh egg in the bottom and lobster + mushroom pieces floating about. it came in a tiny cup. delicious.
second dish was wolffish tempura with white sauce. it was allright.
third dish was bluefish on top of sliced razor clams. hubby loved the bluefish (very crispy on the outside) and i loved the clams.
i got fruit crisp with ice cream while hubby got brioche w/ ice cream on top in chilled tarragon soup. both desserts were excellent, but i prefer my husband's because my fruit crisp was a tad too sour.
hubby had 2 glasses of wine, one white and one red. we are not very knowledgeable about wines, so we just asked the waiter to recommend us. both wines tasted good.
service was competent and friendly.
check came to a total of $77 before tip.
all in all, we'll definitely go back, either for the 4 course menu, or for regular menu.
now, a few questions:
-is the 3 course menu also served only after 9 pm on wed, thurs, sun, fri, and sat? the website wasnt very clear.
-do dinners from regular menu take 2 hours to complete as well?
