I noticed that someone recently said something negative
about Emma's Brick Oven Pizza on 108th St. in Forest Hills. First of all, it's worth going there just to have
the surreal experience of dining in a bright, modern Upper West Side-ish restaurant, while people watching
in deepest Queens. With French windows opening out to the street, this place is so out of place on 108th
Street's Russian honky tonk strip, the fact that the food is really good only adds to the absurdity! I think
their pizza is much better than Nick's (overrated) on Ascan Av. The sauce is sweet and tangy and the fresh
mozzarella is, how we used to say, "choice....dude".
The service makes for good physical comedy, but at least
they're pleasant. They also have a great lunch special;
choice of individual pizza or pasta with soup or salad
for $4.95. I had the penne primavera with a pink sauce twice.I'm a big pink sauce guy and thought it was pretty spunky. The owner's are Chilean and I hope they knew what they were doing when they opened in this location, because business seems to be pretty sporadic. I know I'm doing my part to keep this place going, now the rest of you have no excuse to not do yours.
