Bailey's took a long holiday break and re-opened this week with a new staff, new menu, new hours and lower prices.
This was my first visit to Bailey's so can't compare. Originally I was going to try the Roaster Coffee Co. coffee or the fruit slushie. However, earlier this week I tried that coffee roaster elsewhere. It reminds me of Four Barrel or Ritual in the early days.
Fruit slushies will return in the summer since they said that this is the time of year for soup.
So I had soup.
The lentil, bacon and pork soup was very good. There was almost a 50-50 mix of meat to lentils ... lots of porky pieces with bacon giving smokiness. Despite the bacon, it wasn’t overly salty.
Bailey's dropped weekday breakfast and opens later now at 10 am. They are now open on Saturday for brunch. The SOS is described as thick cut grill toasted Italian white smothered with pork sausage gravy. Other brunch items include cheese blintzes, smoked salmon plate, house-made muesli with pepitos and eggs with potatoes and breakfast meat or mushrooms.
The large chalkboard has sandwiches and the daily dinner special. I remember they had a brisket sandwich and a cubano. The only dinner special I remember was turkey meatloaf.
There is a glass deli case with some pre-packed salads and items. They gave out samples of the bread pudding which was very custardy and nicely flavored with vanilla.
It is a very casual warehouse type of feel. Hours are on the restaurant record link. The website doesn't have the new menu yet. They said next week it would.
If I lived in that area I'd probably stop by and try more things.
