I have only recently discovered this place after being taken there for a business lunch, so I cannot compare to the way it was before, as in previous posts. But I will say that I loved the food, service and atmosphere enough to come back again on my own, when a friend of mine was passing through the city.
The starter of puff pastry with gruyere was perfect to set of the Merlot, while we were waiting for the rest of the party. I do have to say though that the Wine-by-the-glass selection was not as impressive as their bottle list. I chose the seared foie gras for the appetizer and re-discovered a classic in an unexpected way. My husband had a muchroom martini, which he also liked. I think EMB's strength is in presenting an old favourite with an unusual twist. The ingredients work well together without overpowering the pallett. For the entree, I chose the halibut - no surprises there, it was devine as always.
For desert the chocolate souffle is a must, but you need at least 4 people to finish it.
Overall, the staff was very pleasant, knowledgable, and not invasive (my biggest pet peeve).
I am thinking of going back again for Valentine's Day :)
