Went to El Sarape the other night on a fellow hounds recommendation. I have to say that I was not terribly impressed. That being said, I had looked quite a bit beforehand for other ethnic restaurants in the area (wasn't feeling like Indian otherwise would have definitely gone to Punjab)and the S.Shore is sorely lacking. We began with margaritas, I had one with a splash of cranberry and my DC had a "cadillac" margarita. Mine was very watery while theirs was very good...ordered one of those for a second round. Chips were not very fresh but the salsa was excellent. We split an app. of chicken livers with a great tomato, cilantro sauce with a bit of kick...good dish if you like chicken livers. I had the chicken mole and DC had the chilis rellenos. DC said they were overcooked but "okay" and I didn't really care for my mole, I like mine much better. I did like the side of black beans but otherwise thought our choices were just "eh."
