Finally got around to trying El Manara's baba ganoush, which an Astoria Chowhound proclaimed "the best." It is indeed very, VERY good. A complex smoky taste with not too much tahini. Smooth consistency. I'll definitely be back.
The only disappointment was the pita. Maybe it was because I went on a Sunday but the pita was not fresh at all. It didn't appear that they make the pita on site, which is weird cause they're a bakery. What baked goods do they make there and are they any good?
El Manara is on Steinway and 28th Avenue in Astoria.
