El Cerrito - Chef's Chinese Food - lawn flax beef & whale bacon

OK, I apoligize ahead of time for this stupid post.

The saving grace is that in the link below is there are some stunning pictures of mainly Bay Area food. Loved the picture of the ramen at Himarawi Ramen in San Mateo. I may print that off and point to it at the restuarant.

Chef's seems to have two local restuarants, one in the El Cerrito Plaza and the other in El Sobrante.

Curious to see if it had a website or many locations, it seems there are only the two places. There was one write up ... in Japanese. So I hit the translate link ... results below.

There is a non translated version that does have a picture of something called whale bacon at another restaurant... is there such a thing?

Can't figure out what lawn flax beef might be, but I think that is a picture of it. Sesame beef?

Chef's is not bad steam table food if you choose carefully ... at least the El Sobrante location. I was lured by the $1.99 lunch special. It was decent ... big scoop of white rice and choice of steam table entree ... beef and eggplant was good. Nothing exiting. Skip the pot stickers which have a too thick wrapper and lots of pork filling, but it tasted uncooked.

Here's the original Japanese link. I think they are saying it is ok fast food. I doubt if sea urchin is sold ... I'm not sure if that was the first words of some kid or what they ate.
