El Castillo de Jagua brief review

My boyfriend and I ordered delivery from el castillo de jagua (Flatbush & 7th, in Brooklyn) last night. I always walk by and it smells DIVINE (locals call it el carnieviento or "the meaty wind"). Delivery took about an hour. For 18.35 and change we got:

-fried chicken (him). Fried chicken was possibly the best I've ever had. Really flavorful, crispy skin, juicy chicken. YUM. Definitely what I will order next time. In the past I've ordered the rotisserie chicken, which is also excellent.
-roast pork (me). a truly generous serving. Good smoky pork flavor, crackling pork skin still attached. I was kind of assuming it would be a wet roast in gravy, but it was dry. Very good though, especially with a little hot sauce. I'll be covering the leftovers in BBQ sauce and eating them tonight
-VERY generous sides of rice and beans that came with the above (three large containers of yellow rice, 2 small of soupy beans on the side). Yellow rice was flavorful and well cooked; I don't like beans but my boyfriend said they were sweeter beans, more like pork and beans, and really liked them. Bonus points for serving the beans on the side, which makes non bean eaters like me very happy, as I could enjoy the rice.
-Side order of something I don't remember the name of, but was basically fried plantain slices that tasted kind of like french fries. Fantastic, especially with a little hot sauce added. Couldn't stop eating them.
-side order of a starchy fried vegetable - yucca I think? Wasn't a fan.

Delivery took about an hour and food was lukewarm when we received. They also do eat-in, which I've never done.

All in all tasty comfort food delivered on a cold night, and excellent value.
