This restaurant just opened recently. It's located on Yonge St., north of Davisville, next to Young Thailand. I went there for lunch today, as their prices are reasonable and they currently have a grand opening special of 15% off. I ordered the sushi appetizer and Nabeyaki udon. While waiting for my food, I entertained myself by reading this Asahi Sushi 411 booklet they had on the tables. Pretty cool and informative for sushi novices. The sushi appetizer consisted of salmon, tuna, tai (white fish), crab, and ebi (shrimp) sushi. I didn't get the crab sushi tho', but hokkigai (surf clam), which I love anyway. I thought their sushi was pretty good. I've come across some iffy tuna and tai sushi before, but the ones I got here were very nice. Unfortunately, I wasn't thrilled at all with the Nabeyaki udon soup. There were only a few bits of seafood - one tempura shrimp, one mussel, couple of pieces of fish cake, and one piece of crab. I found the udon noodles very dense and heavy, didn't even eat half of them! Plus the soup itself was mediocre. I think I'll stick to the hot noodle lunch special from I Zu restaurant.
Overall though, I kinda' like this place. The decor is very subdued, with a few booths and tables for 2, 4, and 6. The lady a couple of tables over had ordered today's special, which was Chicken Hot Pot, and it really did come in a hot pot! You could hear it sizzling too...yum! Next time I go back, I'll try one of their special rolls and a bento box lunch.
