went last fri night on whim with no resv. restaurant was only half full but mostly japanese clientele which was promising. the decor was simple and very clean.
sat at the bar and had the omakase. the fish assortment was impressive. size was a perfect 1 mouthful. including the normal hamachi, toro, uni, etc, i had 3 or 4 different kinds of white fish which were very very fresh and tasty. in total i think i had about 12-14 pieces. the sushi chef serves you 2 pieces at a time but different fish which complement each other very well. the omakase alone came out to $50/pp which was very reasonable considering the quality of fish.
compared to other restaurants i think it is a notch below kuruma and yasuda but then again it was at a fraction of the price. to be honest i would definetely compare the quality of fish to jewel bako or the old sushisay. there are a few restaurants in the city with sublime omakase at exorbitant prices but to find a solid, excellent omakase at a reasonable price is very exciting. now i can look forward to excellent sushi without having to break the bank. i'll go again and again...
by the way, ebisu was much better than iso, hasaki, tomoe, yama, etc.. in case you wanted comparisons.
