I was off the beaten path in Missouri, having a scenic drive from St. Louis to my home town of Jefferson City for a visit, on Hwy 94 that runs on the north side of the Missouri River to the West of St. Louis. I came to the very small town of Dutzow, claimed to be the first German emigrant settlement in Missori in 1832, and saw the Dutzow Deli & Restaurant which looked just like what I wanted, a very local lunch place. It's on the Katy Trail, the hiking/biking trail that's now in place of the Missouri-Kansas-Texas Railroad tracks (MKT, known as the Katy Railroad). The Dutzow Deli is part bar, including beer and local Missouri wines, and part deli. I had a reuben sandwich which was quite good and ate it on the porch. This is a good very non-touristy stop if you're in the area.
