Hello hounds, I have a short report and a question.
Last night, my wife and I had dinner at Duangrat's for the first time (can't believe it's taken me this long to get there). I haven't recently done a search on this board for comments, but I think I'm right that D's has been generally highly regarded in our area for some time.
We had two appetizers: Larb and a marinated beef plate.
Two entrees: chicken with cashews, and from their "signatures" page the chili-fried pork. We decided to skip dessert to eat beautifully ripe mangoes at home (would have gone for the mango and sticky rice).
All dishes were just ok. not bad, just sort of there.
"Chicken with cashews!!??" I hear you asking? yes. My wife really likes this dish and as a simple, some-version-available-at-most-types-of-Asian-restaurants, and thus an easy bellweather and comparison dish for different places.
We did not have any seafood, which from looking at the menu might have been a smarter way to go.
And, service was perfunctory at best.
So, what gives? Folks like this place? Used to be better? Am I guessing right about the seafood? I was really disappointed. Wife was so disappointed she clearly won't want to go back. Thanks for any feedback.
