I love going to Drago SM because this is one restaurant where you can actually have a conversation during dinner - perfect accustics so Mme Z and I plus a couple of ChowPups went there last night to start my birthday week. The upside: divine Papparadelle with Roast Pheasant sauce; the down side, pushy server - always a surprise then that happens. It has been ions, since the Ice Age actually to have bus boys pouring copious glasses of sparkling water (wound up as 3 bottles on the bill - I had not even finished my first glass and no one at the table had taken a bath that I had observed). But back to the beginning - we have been frequent guests at this restaurant but there was no one there that I knew when we went in - thats OK but the waiter said, Hi "First Time Here" in a somewhat insolent voice (and I am NOT the sensative type). I replied, No the 91st time. He then appeared about six times and said are you ready yet rushing through the specials and then suggesting a risotto appetizer with truffles - two orders for the four of us - way too much food for an appetizer and way too rich for an appetizer followed by more rich food including ChowPup's ossa bucco which was firmly planted on a heap of risotto. Risotto overkill here - can we pay attention please and show some interest in what is ordered. Overall a good evening - the sparkling water knocked off the bill but still a lingering yearning for the old Drago (this new menu is quite limited, a sign of the times I guess) $300 for four.
