El Bajio. one of 3 outpost from Chef Carmen Titita Ramirez at Avenida Cuitlahuac 2709 .
As a NYer who has eaten the best Mexican California has to offer, this sure beats it.
The mole was absolutely incredible. We ate here repeatedly for $25 pp with apps, mains, dessert and coffee. I wish there was an outpost in NYC. Wow!
Around the corner is an equally cheap, though no where near as good Karisma. But it certainly was decent enough. About $15 pp.
There is also a chain called El Togoncito. A tapa and taco place with delicious everything including margaritas. Really cheap. Open late. Friendly service. About $15 pp, stuffed.
Izote. Patricia Quintana is the chef at 513 Presidente Masaryk Polanco.
We had chicken, fish, seafood, steak and of course postres. There were no disappointments. Great wine selection too. We probably spent $50 pp before the alcohol.
Last but not least. La Morena. Cuban tapa and oyster bar at Atilxco 94, esq Michoacan in Condesa. We had all seafood, ceviche and many Mojitos. About $50 pp. A little hot and loud from the band. No english spoken. But really good.
