I've tried searching through the boards for Donburi discussions but it is always just a quick mention when people are discussing Ramen or Sushi. But Donburi rocks my jollies so I was hoping there were others out there with recs for the best Donburi they've had in the Bay Area.
I usually prefer Katsu or Unagi Don. And Donburi should really be more than rice with soy sauce sprinkled on with a piece of deep fried pork and an egg on top of it.
The egg should be slightly runny still and the yolk a liquid gold. The pork should be golden brown, tender, and crisp. The onions should be caramelized and should ooze and help add to the delicious and thick sauce that is put on the white blanket of rice that reminds you of fresh fallen fluffy snow.
I really shouldn't post things when I'm this hungry. Any suggestions will be great appreciated and tried, no doubt. My fall back for good Donburi has been Sushi Rokko in the Sunnyvale Downtown area. They keep it pretty consistent and tasty as all giddy-up. Thanks again all.
