Little Dom's on Hillhurst has just started a Monday Supper, similar to Dominick's. Since I visit regularly for breakfast, I happened to notice a card announcing the prix fixe for this Monday and couldn't wait to try it.
Turns out this is the first Monday they are doing it and it seemed to be a roaring success. All indoor tables were booked for the evening and even the bar was full by 7PM (which was a shame because I was dining solo and I prefer the bar.)
I was seated outside, which was really lovely, save for a few smokers and some traffic. I was pleased to note that I wasn't the only solo diner outside, and conversations were flowing all around.
The meal tonight was a panzanella (bread salad) with multi-color heirloom tomatoes and wild greens. Simple and light, the tomatoes were room temperature, as they should be.
The entree was a skirt steak with a mint/garlic sauce over it and small roasted potatoes. The steak was an ample cut and cooked rare, which I like, although I was not asked how I wanted it cooked. The potatoes were done to perfection, with a little bit of crispy edge and no oily taste.
Dessert was some kind of frozen cream (not quite ice cream, I forget what it was called now,) with a berry sauce.
Peroni beer was $2.00 a bottle and they also offered $10 bottles of "Dago" red or white wine.
My total for three courses, a Peroni, and a cappuccino, incl. tax and generous tip, was $27.
This is a great value for a night out. I love Little Dom's in general, but this just makes me love it more.
Hopefully their website will be up soon with announcements of each Monday menu.
