Dishes: Luna Park on Wilshire and La Brea

Had a chance to return to Luna Park a few times. Overall, pretty good, but service REALLY slow at lunch and I think they are starting to stingy about some items… hmmm…

Mediterranean Tuna Salad with Fennel, Capers, Tomatoes, Olives, Onions and Arugula with Salad or French Fries: I was bad and ordered it with the fries. I dunno why, I had their fries before with their moules frites and the fries were just okay… a touch soggy… but these fries were not in a cup… they were laid out on a plate and PERFECTLY tasty and crisp!! So the secret… don’t let them stuff the fries in a cup!! As for the sandwich… I’m a HUGE tuna salad sandwich lover and this was a wonderful unique example of it. The tuna was dressed in oil and lemon and held on wonderfully to its tuna funkiness, which the capers and other dressings really played well with it… I loved it!!

Marinated Hawaiian Tuna "Poke" with Fried Wonton Chips: I had always wanted to try this App… and it did not disappoint… it was WONDERFUL. Plenty of fresh raw buttery Tuna. The marinade was slightly sweet and still tangy. And those Wonton Chips… WOW… It came out so pretty and I quickly tore it apart. I called it Hawaiian Nachos and it was that comforting and good as any Nachos in existence…

Arugula, Fennel, Parmesan, Lemon Shallot Vinaigrette: Great salad… Sounds complex, but it comes together wonderfully…

Butter Lettuce with Green Goddess Dressing: Not so great salad. REALLY bland. I had to douse it in lots of pepper to make it taste right! Would not recommend.

Oven Baked Macaroni & Cheese and Broccoli with Neuske Smoked Ham: Okay… this is where I think Luna Park is starting to get a bit stingy… A while ago… Perceptor took this picture of the Mac N Cheese with Ham… as you will see… there are big chunks of HAM…

Well, when we got the plate, I thought they made a mistake because I could not see any ham! It turns out, the ham is not in little bits through out the mac and cheese. And not even A LOT. Nevertheless, I thought the Mac N Cheese was great. BF thought he flavor of the Brocolli was a bit too pronounced in the sauce, but he’s not a little magic tree fan like me. :)

As always, their drinks are great and always changing (The guys at the bar are always so nice too…). Although I was a bit disappointed by the change in Mac N Cheese, I still love the place. The décor, the food, the prices. I’m sure I’ll work my way through that menu just yet!
