Another dish to try at Nyonya

Had another terrific dinner at Nyonya tonight. The
satay sauce was absolutely superb tonight, and the
roti canai sheer bliss.

We wanted to try some new things tonight, and had one
miss, a very good dish, and one superb one -- the
Nyonya Kari Ayam, described as "chicken cooked over
low heat with lemon grass & chili paste then simmered
in thick rich coconut curry." I almost didn't order
this, fearing the coconut would dominate. Never fear
-- what came out was sublime, haimish soul food of the
highest order.

One funny incident. We had been given warm water
before. We asked our waitress if it could be replaced
with cold water. She gave us a dirty look, a little
bit of "body attitude," but came back with a tray with
four glasses of very hot water. Whoops.

I realized that in my entire life I had never drunk
plain hot water. It's not my favorite drink, but it
sure beats warm water.
