I hate to say it, but Fringale was a disappointment. My husband and I went for dinner a couple of weeks ago, very excited to see what all the good reviews were about. Here's what we had:
Prawn appetizer--great prawns in a delectable sauce that reminded me of lemongrass. Frisee salad--one of my favorite things to eat. Egg was tender with a runny but warm yok. Delicious dressing.
Steak frites--very tender cut with a delicious red wine butter sauce, but the meat actually lacked beefy flavor. Mussels--terrible. Lots of empty shells. The food was cold. Some of the mussels were the size of peas. Broth was nothing special.
Apple tart a la mode dessert was the highlight of the meal. Perfectly warm with nice flakey, buttery crust. Service was great. Atmosphere was cozy. Tight spaces. But the decor and lighting seemed a little dated. I'm in no rush to go back.
