Somewhat disappointing Mixtec meal

I'd heard that Mixtec, in Adams Morgan, was a good place to get tacos, tortas, and other "more-authentic-than-most-of-what-we-have-in-DC" snacks, so my SO and I decided to try it out last night. We had an extremely promising start: a legal parking spot found on the first try, within a block of the place!

The food, however, did not hold up. We ordered a basket of chips and guac, the torta with pork, and the tostada platter with chorizo. Both the chips and guac were overly salty (and I am a salt freak, so for me to notice that is unusual); to a lesser degree, so were the torta and tostada platter. The pork in the torta was somewhat gristly, thought the flavor of the rub they used on it was nice. I liked SO's tostada platter, which came with refried black beans and cheese on them.

Also, they overcharged me by more than double for the torta, although they immediately corrected it when pointed out, with multiple apologies.

I'll give them another chance, since maybe it was an off night - unless others have had similar experiences. Anyone been lately?
