I was in Toronto this weekend and tried Superior for lunch. I admit that I had not researched this place ahead of time and picked it because the menu looked interesting and I needed a place to spend some time in while my wife was in Eaton Centre (In hindsight I should have probably hopped on my Blackberry and logged onto CHOW)
I ate at the bar and started off with a cocktail. I ordered an Old Fashioned and neither of the bartenders knew how to make the drink so they had to refer to their cocktail book to mix it. Even after reading the directions it did not even slightly resemble an old fashioned, but because they were really nice guys I just smiled and drank up.
I started off with the Spicy Calamari. The Salsa it was served with was tasty, but the squid was much too chewy and not tender at all.
For my lunch I ordered the Kobe Corned Beef Brisket Sandwich. I was really looking forward to trying this sandwich because it really sounded great, but I was unfortunately let down. The Brisket was very dry and really lacked flavor. The only flavor I got was from the Dijon mustard which was a little too heavy for my liking.
As I mentioned earlier the staff was very friendly and I hope that the kitchen was just having an off day, but I do not think this will be on my list for my next visit to Toronto.
