Tried Grotto this weekend. I really wanted to like it. They have done a nice job in a part of the city that doesn't have many food offerings (Government Center part of Beacon Hill on Bowdoin Street).
The room is simple and very nicely done and the staff was very congenial and welcoming. Throughout the meal the service was also very good.
Duck confit appetizer was served with a merlot grape sauce that was very sweet. Too sweet. Fondue with steaktips and mushrooms was a skimpy portion of very mediocre meat with good cheese fondue.
Prosciutto wrapped tenderloin of beef had good prosciutto, but the beef cut was rangy and had an "off" flavor.
Lobster with pasta had pretty good pasta, but very mushy, poor quality lobster.
