Dino's Pizza in Burbank

Steve Doggie-Dogg | Jul 9, 2004 12:47 AM

I recently stopped in at a pizza shack on the corner of Hollywood Way and Burbank Bl called Dino's Pizza. I've passed by there a million times and never stopped in, but I finally decided to give it a try. It was great. I've had such bad luck with pizza in LA... either it's wimpy li'l girly thangs like California Pizza Kitchen, or horribly cheap stuff like the local delivery and twofer joints. Dino's is the real deal. They make their own dough and tomato sauce and use all fresh ingredients. I had a "Meat Lover's Pizza" with anchovies and fresh basil and a pitcher of Sierra Nevada. My pal had an Italian Roast Beef sandwich. We couldn't have been happier. I love anchovies, but most places use cheap ones that are just salty and fishy... not at all subtle. The ones at Dino's were delicious. The atmosphere is good too... kind of like a place at the beach with family style benches. The folks behind the counter are friendly and they made a point of asking us how we liked our meal. There's a big window on the kitchen so you can see them throwing your dough in the air. The price was right too... as inexpensive as take out pizza, but a much better value. I've finally found a good pizza joint! Yay!

See ya
Steve
