I moved to Toronto, from Chicago, in February. While I have already made a long list of all of the places I want to try (and made a fairly good dent in that list), I have a bit of a dilemma. My family is coming to visit me this weekend, and I don't know where to take them. Why? Because with this group I have very limited choices. Here are my criteria:
1. Somewhere with a menu that is not 100% "trendy" or exotic, since my father is a meat and potatoes man, e.g. there must be at least one steak/salmon/something plain option on the menu.
2. Somewhere unique to Toronto, with a nice atmosphere -- after all, they are travelling all the way up here so I don't want to take them to Morton's or somewhere they could easily go in Chicago.
3. Somewhere where the check won't break the bank, including (house) wine. Not necessarily cheap, but under $300 for 4.
I live in Yorkville, and they are staying downtown at the Royal York, but we can cab anywhere. They are here for 2 nights, and I am taking them to Le Paradis one of the nights (I've been and it seems to fit my criteria -- cute, tasty, not in Chicago, steak on the menu, and reasonably priced). But I need one more idea. They arrive Thursday. Help!
