Hello my fellow northeastern vacation schleppers -
We are driving between Providence and Brookfield, CT (near Danbury) this evening (stopping there, going for vacation in Ocean City, NJ tomorrow). We take 95 and exit after New London to go north on 9.
Our question: where's a decent place to stop for dinner somewhere between western RI off 95 through Essex or so in CT?
What decent in this context would ideally mean a good diner - we have 2 adults and 2 little kids, 2 and 5. We would like to skip McDonalds et al (though I suspect we'd settle for Friendly's, but I am trying to find something a little more, um, local).
A family place that was fairly snappy in service and speed would be fine too. Should this place be near somewhere like a park where we can run our kids around afterward so they are appropriately tired for the rest of the ride would be a fine bonus (but not crucial).
Thanks for any ideas! We don't mind getting of 95 or 9 for a short spell if a good place awaits.
