Day 1:

Lunch:
Arrived Thursday around lunchtime. We stayed at Iberville suites which was very nice. walked over to redfish grille. The food was avg at best. My oyster po-boy was good but greasy. My wife had a refish burger that was nasty.

Dinner: Brigstens
After a long streetcar ride, we found our way to Brigstens. The food and service were both top notch.
My wife had the Caesar salad with fried oyster w/applewood smoked bacon. The oysters were fantastic! I had the squash and shrimp bisque that was heavenly. For dinner, I had the special - sauteed trout with meaniere sauce coated with pecans. My wife had the seafood platter. We had to switch b/c the trout was so delicious. Seafood platter was great especially the crab thermidor. For dessert we shared the strawberry shortcake with chocolate cream. Yummy! I highly recommend this restaurant.

Day 2:

breakfast at the hotel and a full day of touring.

Dinner: Commanders Palace
Disappointing all around. First they did not seat us in the garden room (even though we requested it). After complaining, they put us there. Service was decent, but I hated not having a real waiter. The room had a stuffy atmosphere. The turtle soup was great and my wife had a decent salad. I had the duck which was lukewarm. My wife had the softshell crab that was somewhat better. For dessert, she had the yummy bread budding and I had the avg blueberry cobbler. I would not recommend this restaurant.

Day 3:

breakfast at the hotel and after touring we split a muffaletta at Central Grocery. Fantastic sandwich!

Dinner: Herbsaint (we were contemplating Emeril's or August, but after Commanders disappointment we wanted something modern) Service & food were fantastic. I had the shrimp w/grits cake and tasso cream for an appetizer. It was phenomenal. My wife had a salad. They also make a mean sauzerac cocktail. For dinner, I had the pork belly with black lentils. so delicious. my wife had the short ribs and crab with tomato type sauce. short ribs were yummy. crab was ok. for dessert we had the chocolate filled beignets. (my fav dessert of the trip) and coconut cream pie which was also fantastic.

In hindsight, we should have went to dick and jenny's on day 2. oh well - always next time. Also, the prices for dinner were on avg $110 for 2 people. not bad.
