I'm sure I'll incur the wrath of many loyalists, but why doesn't anyone ever mention how filthy DiFara's is?
Only the great slice has made me come back 6 times (that and I live three stops away on the Q) - I return IN SPITE of how dirty the place is. The garbage cans are filled and overflowing on EVERY visit and I've only witnessed the dirt on the tables wiped off once in six trips - directly onto the chairs.
Empty soda cans line the front wall and pizza and money are handled by the same hands, albeit an artist's hands, without so much as a wipe in between.
And that's what's in plain view! One can only imagine what the kitchen/storage areas look like.
I love the pie. I love the way Domenic labors over the pie. I'm simply astounded at the poor sanitary conditions and how they are overlooked by everyone.
