I've been experimenting with the proportions and ingredients for a matcha smoothie. I generally boil some water and then dump into the water a few curved Japanese wooden spoons ladled with good qualify Japanese matcha - dump the matcha into about two ounces of the boiled water. I then add 4 oz soy milk (I'm allergic to regular milk - l have been lately using Westsoy Unsweetened Vanilla Soymilk - the ingredients look natural, but the milk has a bit of an off flavor - I think I could do better with my smoothie if I used a better brand of soy milk). I then add a full teaspoon of Suzanne Sommers' SommerSweet, which I bought at her cheesy website (to me, it tastes much better than all the other alternative sweetners, including the artificials and the stuff like stevia). Then I throw the mixture to be blended into the blender with about 8 ice cubes to be crushed and blended .Though my concoction is not bad, I know that if I keep working on it, I will achieve perfection before the really hot dog days of summer, where one of these would hit the spoy perfectly.
So, any suggestions on hot to kick the matcha smoothie up a notch? Or ideas for a tea based smoothie with something other than matcha.
All creative suggestions warmly welcomed.
