So my SO and I just tried out the dimsum at Star Kitchen this past weekend and were really disappointed.
With the exception of their rice congee and wok fried Chinese (gailan) broccoli, which were reasonably done, every single other dish just had something off about it. The custard in the 'quicksand' bun and the egg tart were overly sweet. The chinese donut (youtiao) inside of the zhaliang had either been overcooked and/or had been sitting for awhile. The fried taro dumpling was a bit too salty. To top it off, all of the dishes except for the rice porridge were served cold. We got there around 10:30am, so I can't imagine our arrival time to be an issue.
We've seen the 2011 Denver dimsum thread (http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/790421), where Star Kitchen was billed as one of the top two/three dimsum places in Denver. Has the quality of Star Kitchen dipped recently? Should we lower our expectations for dimsum at Superstar and Kingsland?
