Went to DeMarco's
First of all, I should mention that I'm not the biggest fan of Difara's. I thought the squares were extremely good, but always thought the round slices were too soggy to be perfect.
So, I should say, if you're looking for Difara's, this is not it. The decor is even more plain. There's strange lighting on the ceiling. And, it's actually clean. I did notice that the other guy you always see in Difara's (Dom's son?) works now at Demarco's.
Had the plain slice only (since finding out they cook the square in pork). No doubt in my mind, this is the best slice in Manhattan. The slice's resemblance to Difara's is remote. It is much thicker and more cheesy (in quantity, not taste).
The sauce was perfectly tangy. Cheese was a great combination of flavors (not exactly the same as Difara's). Only complaint would be the crust if anything. I'd drizzle a little more oil on the pie top before cooking.
This and New Park Pizza in Howard Beach are the two best slices I've tried. Will certainly be back often.
BTW, place was empty, both the restaurant and the pizza place.
