On Friday night, I tried El Castillo De Jagua on Flatbush Avenue (or was it El Castillo de Rey De Jagua or some such variation? They are right across the street from each other, and I'm blanking on which one. Anyway, it was the one on the Park Slope/Southern side of Flatbush Ave., a block or two north of Seventh Avenue, as opposed to the one on the Prospect Heights/Northern side of Flatbush Ave.)
Anyway, it was my first foray there, and I enjoyed it getting an octopus dish in a "spicy" sauce. The sauce wasn't actually that spicy, but it tasted pretty good, with starchy green plaintains to soak u pthe sauce. My dining companion got a rotissie-esque chicken leg + thigh, which was also pretty good, although I think that Malecon has superior Dominican rotisserie chicken.
I'm interested in trying the place with the almost-identical name across the street, and there seems to be another Dominican or Puerto Rican restaurant a block up Flatbush, on Sixth Avenue. Does anyone have any recommendations/thoughts/preference in regard to these places?
